Video Surveillance For Summer Vacation Home Security

#1

Planning on being away for a long period of time this summer? Maybe you are heading out of town to stay with friends or relatives, or maybe you are lucky enough to have a vacation home in another part of the world. Perhaps you are sending the kids off to summer camp while you head to professional conferences all summer, or perhaps you simply have a long, two or three week vacation coming up. Whatever the reason that you are lucky enough to have summer plans that take you away for a while, it's important to consider how you will be protecting your home while you aren't there. Home security for vacationers is of utmost importance, since you will not be around to protect your home. Even if a home is locked up completely, the fact that it appears empty is still the biggest weakness any home left unoccupied for an extended period of time has.

There are many ways to avoid leaving a house that appears empty. The easiest way is to ask someone to 'house sit,' or take care of the house by spending some time, or the entire extent of your vacation away in the home. This will make the house appear lived in, and take away the 'easy target' aspect of an empty home. If someone is not staying over, it is still important that little details are attended to by somebody, including mowing the lawn, collecting the mail, and switching lights on and off in the house to create the illusion of the home being occupied. If you don't have anyone to come over and tend to the house, you could also try using automatic timers or a 'Fake TV' device that creates the illusion of a television being watched inside the home, without burning out your real TV.

Another top way to protect your home is with a home security system. If you are interested in video surveillance, a system that includes security cameras might be the perfect choice. While you are gone if anything happens you will have a recording of incidents on video, and will be far more likely to recuperate any stolen items. Some systems also can be set up to provide a live feed to a cell phone or computer that turns on any time motion is sensed. This means your home will essentially alert you any time a suspicious activity occurs. There is no better home security system than keeping an eye on your home yourself, even when you're miles away relaxing on vacation!

Remember, it's important to relax and enjoy your vacation especially if you've got a nice long vacation finally coming up. In order to completely relax and not worry about anything back home, be sure to include top home security on your 'to do' list before heading out on vacation this year. Whether choosing video surveillance or a simple burglar alarm, any means taken towards protecting your home will certainly make a difference. Have a great summer, and remember to make safety and security a priority for a perfect summer season.
